Davis & Zaragoza Named To All-Great Lakes Region Team

Springfield, Ohio - The Wittenberg University men's and women's soccer team each landed a player on the United Soccer Coaches All-Great Lakes Region Team, as announced by the organization on Monday, November 26th.

Alberto Zaragoza caps of a stellar senior campaign by earning third-team All-Great Lakes Region honors. Zaragoza was the leading goal scorer in the NCAC in 2018, finding the back of the net 14 times over the course of the seasons. The New Carlisle, OH native becomes just the eighth All-Great Lakes Region honoree in program history and the first Tiger to earn the award since 2008. Zaragoza was also the first Tiger to take the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year award since Matt Borland received the honor in '08. Zaragoza joins 11 North Coast Athletic Conference student-athletes who were also named to one of the three teams in the Great Lakes Region.

Meg Davis of the Wittenberg women's soccer team was named to the All-Great Lakes Region third team, closing out what has been an unparalleled career in the Red and White. Davis is a four-time, first-team, All-NCAC selection, starting in all 76 matches for the Tigers since stepping on campus in 2015. Though the Canal Winchester native's name may not appear at the top of the record book for the most goals in her four years, Davis put up 31 points in her career for Wittenberg, finishing with 15 goals and one assist. Making an immediate impact on the Tiger offense, Davis earned NCAC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2015 as she tallied six goals, including three game-winners. During her time in the Red and White, Davis was twice named to the All-Ohio team in 2016 and 2017. As part of the senior class, Davis has helped the Tigers garnish an overall record of 38-26-10 and 21-9-3 in NCAC action. With that record they captured the 2016 NCAC Regular Season Championship, 2017 NCAC Tournament Championship and participated in the NCAA Tournament in both of those seasons, advancing to the round of 32 in 2017.
