Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make a pledge of support?

Yes; gift pledges to the Tiger Club can be paid in monthly, quarterly or annual installments. Please contact The Wittenberg Fund office to set up a pledge schedule or go online and schedule payments using a debit or credit card (www.wittenberg.edu/give).

Can I make a gift in honor or memory of someone?

Yes! Many donors contribute funds to honor a loved one or special individual. When making your gift, please specify the name and his/her relationship to the school. If a gift is made in memory of someone who has passed away, the Wittenberg Office of Advancement will notify the family of any gifts made in tribute. If a gift is made in honor of someone's life or career, they will be notified of any gifts unless the donor requests anonymity.

Can my gift be designated to my favorite sport?

Yes! If you know the name of the department or program, simply indicate it in the memo space on your check or in the designation section of the online giving form. The Advancement gift processing staff will ensure your contribution reaches the appropriate area.

To whom should checks be made payable and to what office should gifts be directed?

Checks should be made payable to Wittenberg University and mailed to PO Box 720, Springfield, OH, 45501. Please include the sport to which you are designating your gift on the memo line.

Is it possible to remain anonymous when making a gift?

Yes, we respect your wishes as a donor and we will not make your contribution public, if requested.

I am unable to make a large gift now but do small gifts even make a difference?

Large gifts are absolutely essential to the success of Wittenberg Athletics but so are modest ones. Donations of all sizes are vital and gratefully accepted. Some donors find they can achieve their charitable goals through the University’s many planned giving avenues, such as life insurance, property, real estate and securities, that don't require a large cash gift. Donors may also pledge their gifts over time. You may also be able to double your gift by taking advantage of your employer's matching gift program.

Is my gift to the Tiger Club tax deductible?

Gifts in excess of goods or services received are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You are encouraged to consult your tax adviser and the IRS Web site.

Will my company match my gift to the Tiger Club?

Many companies offer employees a matching-gift benefit that doubles or triples their donations to higher education. Companies have various methods by which you can submit your matching-gift request: online forms, automated phone systems or paper forms that you submit to The Wittenberg Fund office. Please visit your human resources office to learn more about matching-gift opportunities and policies or contact The Wittenberg Fund for more information about matching gift companies and see if your gift qualifies.
