- Graduated from Walled Lake Central High School in 2005 after receiving all-state honors in track in field that same year.
- Competed at the Division I level for the University of Michigan and later Colorado State University.
- Earned a bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2009 from the Univeristy of Michigan and a masters degree in Health and Exercise Science from Colorado State University in 2011.
